Roots and Wings 2018
February 24 dawned frosty and road slick. Undaunted, Edmonds United Methodist Church made a strong showing to Roots and Wings,
Puget Sound District training. Peggy Fowler drove four of us – Bridget Clawson, Tammy Stacy, Lisa Burns, and Bruce Cook. We were greeted at Marysville UMC by Keith Skore. Irma “Granny” Brown and David Ellis also attended.
Daniel Foster spoke about the inward journey – a resonating and authentic message of connecting with Jesus many times throughout every day. Jesus Christ is listening and lighting our path, always.
In breakout sessions, some went deeper into healing through meditation; some learned simple tips on Bible reading; SPR members discovered meaningful ways to support staff.
Our talented, inspirational Pastor Sandy Brown led the Wings session; the outward journey. He reminded: “It is not our practice; it is what we do because of our practice.” Using scripture, he helped us find answers to the fundamental question of what God wants from us. Feed the hungry. Clothe the naked. Take action. Remember what we Methodists do: We create disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Each of us left the event reflecting about how we will do that.
